2018 Was a Swell Year
January 08, 2019 | By Jason
2018 was a swell year. It marked our second year in business, and one in which we experienced growth in a multitude of ways. We released numerous new products, became a Certified B Corporation®, partnered with various non-profit organizations, and wrapped up our first Kickstarter campaign for the Siletz 35L - which was a success thanks to all of you!
Yet rather than bore you with all of this business stuff, we figured it would be more fitting to share with you what we were most excited about as 2018 came to an end; the massively beautiful swell that slammed into the West Coast as the Holidays were getting under way. Talk about a distraction, we had piles of Christmas orders coming in, Holiday sales kicking off, and all the while clear skies and offshore winds were sculpting picture perfect waves up and down the Central California Coast.
More often than not we sat sidelined on the shore, simply watching the 20 - 30 foot plus waves slam the shoreline.
For a week straight we were up before the sun and searching for those little nooks and crannies in the coastline that could tame the pumping surf. More often than not we sat sidelined on the shore, simply watching the 20 - 30 foot plus waves slam the shoreline. And with that we were plenty content. There's something mesmerizing about big surf - the sounds and sights of thousands of tons of water rising and falling and churning into shore command respect and admiration not only from surfers, but from anyone fortunate enough to observe.
So sit back and scroll through some of the images we collected from the tail end of 2018. We hope they come across as pleasing through a digital medium as they were in person.
If these photos spur any motivation on your part (we really hope they do) to contribute toward protecting, cleaning, or conserving our coastlines, please go give these amazing organizations a gander:
